Safety & Environmental Aspects of Fuel Handling
Castle Fuels (2008) Inc. is a wholesale marketer/supplier of Petro-Canada. With several locations throughout the southern interior of BC, we supply fleet fueling services as well as bulk plants and cardlocks in all of our southern BC locations. With a fleet of 27 fuel trucks, including dedicated bulk DEF and lubricant delivery trucks, we serve local businesses to very remote worksites, and even fuel locomotives from our trucks.
There are several risks involved with fuel handling, including:
1. Fire and explosion
2. Ground water contamination
3. Exposure to carcinogens through vapours or skin contact
4. Emissions affecting air quality
Because of this, there are strict Federal Regulations that fuel handlers must adhere to. We are proud to say that Castle Fuels (2008) Inc. goes above and beyond the Regulations by making safety our top priority. Our dedicated Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator oversees all safety aspects throughout the company, and works closely with Petro-Canada safety officials who administer annual safety audits at all our sites. We take pride in our safety record and our strong working relationships within the communities we serve.
As a result of the above risks, this is a highly regulated industry and fuel handling procedures frequently come under the microscope. We at Castle Fuels (2008) Inc. strongly recommend to our business customers to take precautions to ensure that your fuel handling procedures are safe, and that you and your business are protected from unnecessary liability and prosecution.
For complete details of the regulations governing fuel handling, you can refer to the federal Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations and the Fuel Handling Guide set out by the BC MINISTRY OF WATER, LAND AND AIR PROTECTION.
